Alternate To Healthy Lifestyle

The modern society has definitely come of age. We all know about how to be healthy and how that leads us humans in leading lifestyle enviable by others. Health has now taken the style statement status. Yes it is true, just look at the advertisements around you and the mushrooming health spa’s and gyms in your block. This only suggest one thing, we need to live healthy hence contributing to a healthy society.

Health has also grown of age, from the orthodox or well spread “allopathic” style of medication there are newer and innovative ways of keeping us healthy. This entire stream of medicine is called alternative medicine. Wikipedia describes alternative medicine as "any of various systems of healing or treating disease (as chiropractic, homeopathy, or faith healing) not included in the traditional medical curricula taught in the United States and Britain". There are many words describing the same such as unconventional, unorthodox, unproven, complementary, innovative, integrative medicine styles.

There are many styles of alternative medicine from Asia and Europe which has been co existent with allopath style of medicine and as many of the allopath doctors over the years have realized that their style of medication has been heavily influenced by these traditional way of healing. There are thousands of alternative medicine styles but the list of top ten are Ayurvedic medicine, Chiropractic medicine, Herbalism, Homeopathic medicine, Naturopathic medicine, Osteopathic medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine, Unani and Yoga.

The alternative medicine practitioner’s work is concentrated around common principles. These are very similar to allopathic methods but some of them are entirely different. There are three basic philosophies alternative medicine Self Healing: Your body is capable of handling itself. This principle works the best for the side effect phobia which most of us possess. The natural therapist will just assist the process of self healing and encourage the same for faster results.

Why cure when you can prevent: The alternative medicine has a huge segment of knowledge database explaining how we should prevent health disorders. There are many methods also published to keep one healthy without going through rigorous and strenuous treatments.

Finally the alternative medical practitioner is not your doctor but he is your teacher. He gives you guidance to heal yourself instead of you depending on him to heal. So you learn how to heal yourself so that your health is totally dependent on you and not the doctor.
