“Check in please! Oh, c’mon,” Chelsea said to the
Chinese receptionists at her hotel. After a few repeated attempts, it was clear
that they didn’t speak English. She had to pull out her phone and show them her
reservation online before they began to do anything. Chelsea cursed under her
breath all the way to her room – she had come to China for a vacation, needing
to get away from the stress of her family and work, yet she couldn’t get a
break right up until she lay in her bed. Apparently,
getting the cheapest hotel possible means that no one speaks a lick of English.
Cranky and exhausted from the flight and hotel experience, she fell asleep before unpacking
her luggage.
